Kendra's Story
Submitted: January 4, 2012
He picked me up from work December 23, 2011. He was late, so I went to pick up a coffee. He said traffic was so bad he wanted to take the Perimeter home, which was odd because we live in the middle of the city, but it was a nice drive so I didn't mind.
We came up to the number 6 highway and he suddenly turned. I was very surprised and had no idea what was going on. He told me my Christmas surprise was going to The Pas to see my family. My family is from The Pas and we are very close so I was very excited to see them. My grandfather passed away in early summer and I really wanted my family to be together, so going to The Pas was the best surprise I could have got.
The whole way there (which is about 6 hours) I believed that my dad had left early that morning and was going to meet us there, I thought that was my second surprise. I had called him hundreds of times that day and he didn't answer at all.
When we got close to the Pas he said we were going to my cabin and everyone was waiting there. My cabin is such a special place, my grandfather built it and we spent every summer there. It is like my second home and so special to me. We finally got to the cabin and I could tell no one was there. I was getting pretty confused.
He told me that we should just walk around and look at the cabin in the winter time. It was beautiful, all covered in snow, the lake was frozen and a sheet of white. We walked around to the front of the cabin and in all the snow, in front of the lake... he asked me to marry him.
