Las Vegas…What Happened There!

Wow, what an intense 6 days in Las Vegas.  All in all, I would say the show was a success.

Las Vegas hosts the largest North American trade show yearly around this time, generally known as JCK.  There are really three parts to the show: JCK, JCK Luxury, and Couture.  JCK tends to be a little bit of everything, but generally offers more affordable jewellery.  Luxury gets more expensive, and Couture (which isn’t technically not a part of JCK, in fact takes place in a different area altogether) is very high-end.

We met with a lot of our existing suppliers and a whole bunch of potential new ones.  Hearts On Fire, Pandora, TAG Heuer, Breuning, Bellarri are just a few to mention.  There are tons of new things coming that we will be receiving between now and Christmas.  Keep your eyes open and ask us when you come in what is new.

A couple of cool things.  While walking the show we happened across a 5ct fancy vivid pink diamond.  The price for such a rare object? Approximately $7.5 million!

Also, when we sat down with a diamond supplier he showed us this:

This is a 0.87ct pink diamond.  Fairly small right? Well this “small” diamond would go for a whopping $150,000! Why so expensive? This is an Argyle pink diamond, Argyle being the mine in Australia where it comes from.  The Argyle mine produces some of the worlds most beautiful pink diamonds.  And they are NOT cheap!

If you have never been to Las Vegas, 6 days is a lot.  No I didn’t gamble, or drink that much, but all the lights, sounds, ads can get to a person after awhile.  The show is fantastic to go to, but I am very much happy to be home.
